Hadith 1801

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: "ذَرُونِي مَا تَرَكْتُكُمْ، فَإِنَّهُ إِنَّمَا أَهْلَكَ مَنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ بِكَثْرَةِ سُؤَالِهِمْ [ ص: 66 ] وَاخْتِلَافِهِمْ عَلَى أَنْبِيَائِهِمْ فَمَا أَمَرْتُكُمْ بِهِ مِنْ أَمْرٍ، فَائْتُوا مِنْهُ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُمْ، وَمَا نَهَيْتُكُمْ عَنْهُ فَانْتَهُوا" .
It is narrated from Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whatever (matter) I have left for you, then leave me in that as well, for the nations before you were destroyed because of their excessive (unnecessary) questioning and their disagreements with their prophets. And whatever I command you to do, do as much of it as you are able, and whatever I forbid you from, then abstain from it."
