Hadith 1725

وَعَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ فَوَكَّدَهَا فَعَلَيْهِ عِتْقُ رَقَبَةٍ. أَخْرَجَ الْأَوَّلَ مِنْ كِتَابِ الْكَفَّارَاتِ وَالنُّذُورِ، وَالثَّانِيَ وَالثَّالِثَ فِي كِتَابِ اخْتِلَافِ مَالِكٍ وَالشَّافِعِيِّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا.
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that he said: "Whoever swears an oath and then affirms it, then (upon breaking it) it is obligatory for him to free a slave."
