أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْمَجِيدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ يَحْيَى الْمَازِنِيُّ، أَنَّ عِيسَى بْنَ عُمَرَ أَخْبَرَهُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَقَّاصٍ، قَالَ: إِنِّي لَعِنْدَ مُعَاوِيَةَ إِذْ أَذَّنَ مُؤَذِّنُهُ، فَقَالَ مُعَاوِيَةُ كَمَا قَالَ مُؤَذِّنُهُ حَتَّى إِذَا قَالَ: حَيَّ عَلَى الصَّلَاةِ، قَالَ: لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ، فَلَمَّا قَالَ: حَيَّ عَلَى الْفَلَاحِ، قَالَ: لَا حَوْلَ وَلَا قُوَّةَ إِلَّا بِاللَّهِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ مَا قَالَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ، ثُمَّ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ ذَلِكَ. أَخْرَجَ الْأَرْبَعَةَ الْأَحَادِيثَ مِنْ كِتَابِ اسْتِقْبَالِ الْقِبْلَةِ.
Abdullah bin Alqamah bin Waqas narrates: When the muezzin of Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the call to prayer, I was present with him. Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) repeated what his muezzin said (i.e., he responded to the call), until when the muezzin said: "Hayya 'ala as-salah," he (Muawiyah) said: "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah," and when he said: "Hayya 'ala al-falah," he (Muawiyah) said: "La hawla wa la quwwata illa billah." Then after that, he repeated the same words as the muezzin had said, then said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to do the same."
