أَخْبَرَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ: عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَاطِبٍ: أَنَّ رَجُلَيْنِ تَدَاعَيَا وَلَدًا فَدَعَا عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ لَهُ الْقَافَةَ، فَقَالُوا: قَدِ اشْتَرَكَا فِيهِ. فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ: وَالِ أَيَّهُمَا شِئْتَ.
It is narrated from Yahya bin Abdur Rahman bin Hatib that two men claimed a child, so Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) called for those skilled in physiognomy. They said, "Both of them share in him." Then Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said to the child, "Go to whichever of them you wish."
