Hadith 1641

Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that Abu Hudhaifah bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him) was an old man. On the day of the Battle of Uhud, he was kept with the women at a high place. From there, he came out seeking martyrdom. Then, coming from the direction of the polytheists, the Muslims quickly surrounded him and struck him with their swords, while his son Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) was saying to the Companions: "This is my father, this is my father!" Due to the heat of battle, they did not listen to him until they killed him. Then Hudhaifah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "May Allah forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy." Then the Prophet (ﷺ) ordered the payment of his blood money.
