أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ حُسَيْنٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ: أَنَّ ابْنَ شَاسٍ الْجُذَامِيَّ قَتَلَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَنْبَاطِ الشَّامِ، فَرُفِعَ إِلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ فَأَمَرَ بِقَتْلِهِ، فَكَلَّمَهُ الزُّبَيْرُ وَنَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَنَهَوْهُ عَنْ قَتْلِهِ، قَالَ: فَجَعَلَ دِيَتَهُ أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ.
It is narrated from Zuhri that the son of Shas Jazami killed a man from among the Nabateans of Syria. When this matter was brought before Uthman bin Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), he ordered the killer to be killed. Then Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) and other companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) spoke with Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) and prevented him from carrying out the killing. He then set the blood money at one thousand dinars.
