Abu Salamah narrates: Muawiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Madinah. He was sitting on the pulpit when he said: "O Kathir bin Salt! Go to the Mother of the Believers, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and ask her about the two rak‘ahs after ‘Asr that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray!" Abu Salamah says: I also went with Kathir bin Salt, and Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) sent Abdullah bin Harith with us and said to him: "Go and listen to what the Mother of the Believers says." He went and asked Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), so Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "I do not have knowledge about this. Go to Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) and ask her about this issue." Abu Salamah narrates: I also went with them to Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), and she said: "One day, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to my house after ‘Asr and prayed two rak‘ahs, which I had not seen him pray before. I asked: O Messenger of Allah ﷺ! Today you prayed a prayer that I have not seen you pray before? So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'I pray two rak‘ahs after Dhuhr, but a delegation from Banu Tamim came to me, or the charity of Banu Tamim, and they kept me busy from those rak‘ahs, so these are those (two rak‘ahs after Dhuhr).'"
