Hadith 1578

It is narrated from Abu Waqid Al-Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him) that Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) was in Syria when a man came to him and said that he had found a man with his wife. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) sent Abu Waqid Al-Laithi (may Allah be pleased with him) to the man's wife to inquire about the matter. When he came to her, there were other women sitting with her. He told her what her husband had said about her to Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), and also told her that she would not be held accountable based solely on his statement. He began to advise her with such words so that she might disagree with her husband's statement, but she refused to disagree and remained firm in her confession. Then Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) gave the order regarding her, and she was stoned.
