Hadith 1570

وَقَدْ حَدَّثَنِي الثِّقَةُ: أَنَّ الْحَسَنَ كَانَ يُدْخِلُ بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ عُبَادَةَ حِطَّانَ الرَّقَاشِيَّ، وَلَا أَدْرِي أَدْخَلَهُ عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ بَيْنَهُمَا فَزَلَّ مِنْ كِتَابِي حِينَ حَوَّلْتُهُ وَهُوَ فِي الْأَصْلِ أَوْ لَا؟ وَالْأَصْلُ يَوْمَ كَتَبْتُ هَذَا الْكِتَابِ غَائِبٌ عَنِّي.
Imam Shafi’i, may Allah have mercy on him, said: A trustworthy narrator informed me that Hasan used to mention Hittan al-Ruqashi as an intermediary between himself and ‘Ubadah, may Allah be pleased with him. Now, I do not know whether ‘Abd al-Wahhab, may Allah have mercy on him, mentioned this intermediary between the two of them. I checked my original book, but it was not present in it. Or perhaps, since I wrote this book, its original has been missing from me.
