أَخْبَرَنَا مُسْلِمٌ، وَعَبْدُ الْمَجِيدِ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنِ الضَّبُعِ أَصَيْدٌ هِيَ؟ فَقَالَ: نَعَمْ. قُلْتُ: أَتُؤْكَلُ؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ. قُلْتُ: أَسَمِعْتَهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: نَعَمْ. أَخْرَجَ الْأَوَّلَ مِنْ كِتَابِ الْمَنَاسِكِ، وَالثَّانِيَ مِنْ كِتَابِ الصَّيْدِ وَالذَّبَائِحِ.
It is narrated from Ibn Abi Ammar that I asked Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them), "Is hunting the badger permissible?" He replied, "Yes." I then asked, "Is eating it permissible?" He replied, "Yes." I then asked, "Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?" He replied, "Yes."
