Hadith 1499

قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ فِي كِتَابِهِ: أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: "مَنْ أَحْيَا مَوَاتًا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ فَهُوَ لَهُ، وَعَادِيُّ الْأَرْضِ للَّهِ وَرَسُولِهِ ثُمَّ هِيَ لَكُمْ مِنِّي" .
It is narrated from Ibn Tawoos (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever revives barren land, it belongs to him, and old lands are the property of Allah and His Messenger; then, from my side, they are for you."
