Hadith 1498

أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ: أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: مَنْ أَحْيَا أَرْضًا مَيْتَةً فَهِيَ لَهُ.
It is narrated from Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) that Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Whoever revives barren (uncultivated) land, then it belongs to him."
