Hadith 1466

أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ حَنْظَلَةَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ: أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَافِعَ بْنَ خَدِيجٍ عَنْ كِرَى الْأَرْضِ، فَقَالَ: نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ كِرَاءِ الْأَرْضِ فَقَالَ: أَبِالذَّهَبِ وَالْوَرِقِ؟ فَقَالَ: أَمَّا بِالذَّهَبِ وَالْوَرِقِ فَلَا بَأْسَ بِهِ. [ ص: 209 ]
It is narrated from Hanzalah bin Qais that he asked Rafi' bin Khadij (may Allah be pleased with him) about leasing land. He replied that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade leasing land. Then he asked, "Is it forbidden if it is for gold and silver?" He replied, "If it is for gold and silver, then there is no harm in it."
