Hadith 1451

أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ الْجَزَرِيِّ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ زِيَادَ بْنَ أَبِي تَمِيمٍ مَوْلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ مُصَدِّقًا لَهُ فَجَاءَ بِظَهْرٍ مُسِنَّاتٍ، فَلَمَّا رَآهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: "هَلَكْتَ وَأَهْلَكْتَ" . فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، إِنِّي قَدْ كُنْتُ أَبِيعُ الْبَكْرَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَ بِالْبَعِيرِ الْمُسِنِّ يَدًا بِيَدٍ، وَعَلِمْتُ مِنْ حَاجَةِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِلَى الظَّهْرِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: "فَذَلِكَ إِذَنْ" .
Ziyad bin Abi Tamim (the freed slave of Uthman bin Affan, may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet ﷺ sent a companion to collect charity, and he brought back young camels suitable for riding. When the Prophet ﷺ saw them, he said: "You have destroyed yourself and (caused) others to perish as well." Upon this, he said: O Messenger of Allah! I used to sell two or three camels for one young riding camel in cash, and I knew of the Prophet’s ﷺ need for riding camels. Then the Prophet ﷺ said: "Then that is fine."
