Hadith 1424

أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ طَاوُسٍ: أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ابْنَ عُمَرَ يَقُولُ: لَا يُبْتَاعُ الثَّمَرُ حَتَّى يَبْدُوَ صَلَاحُهُ، وَسَمِعْنَا عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ أَنَّهُ يَقُولُ: لَا يُبَاعُ الثَّمَرُ حَتَّى يُطْعَمَ.
It is narrated from Tawus that he heard Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) say that fruits should not be sold before they are ripe. And we heard Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) say that fruits should not be sold until they are eaten (i.e., until they become fit for eating).
