It is narrated from Amr bin Shu'aib that a man from Banu Mudlij, Qatadah, struck his son or struck him with a sword (the narrator is unsure), which hit his shin, and blood kept flowing from the wound until he died. Then Suraqah bin Ju'sham (may Allah be pleased with him) came to Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) and mentioned this incident to him. Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: When I come to you, keep 120 camels ready at the place of Qudayd. Then when Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) arrived, he took 30 haqqahs, 30 jadh'ahs, and 40 pregnant she-camels from those camels and said, "Where is the brother of the slain?" He said, "I am here." Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, "Take them, because the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The killer has no share (in inheritance or blood money).'”
