Hadith 1259

It is narrated from Sulaiman bin Yasar (may Allah have mercy on him) that Nafi’, who had corresponded with Umm al-Mu’minin Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her), was married to a free woman. He gave her two divorces, then wanted to take her back, so the purified wives of the Prophet ﷺ told him to ask ‘Uthman bin ‘Affan (may Allah be pleased with him) about it. He went to him and found him at the place of Darj, and he was holding the hand of Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him). He asked both of them, and they immediately replied: “She has become unlawful for you, she has become unlawful for you.”
