It is narrated from the noble wife of the Prophet ﷺ, Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), that she said: The wife of Rifa’ah (may Allah be pleased with him) al-Qurazi came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "I was the wife of Rifa’ah and he gave me an irrevocable divorce. Then I married Abdur Rahman bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him), and with him, he is like the edge of a garment (i.e., he is impotent)." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled at this and said, "Do you wish to return to Rifa’ah? This will not be permissible for you until you and your present husband have consummated the marriage." Urwah said: Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) and the Prophet ﷺ were sitting there, while Khalid bin Sa’id bin al-As (may Allah be pleased with him) was standing at the door, waiting for permission to enter. He called out, "O Abu Bakr! Do you not hear what this woman is saying to the Prophet ﷺ?"
