Hadith 1254

It is narrated from Zubair bin Abdur Rahman bin Zubair that Rifa’ah (may Allah be pleased with him) divorced his wife Tamimah bint Wahb three times during the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Then Abdur Rahman bin Zubair (may Allah be pleased with him) married her, but he separated from her before consummating the marriage. So Rifa’ah (may Allah be pleased with him), who was her first husband and had divorced her, wanted to marry her again. This matter was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, so he forbade him from marrying her and said: “She is not lawful for you until she tastes the sweetness of marriage with her present husband.”
