Hadith 1229

أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، قَالَ: كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهَا، إِذَا ذُكِرَ لَهَا الرَّجُلُ يَحْلِفُ أَنْ لَا يَأْتِيَ امْرَأَتَهُ فَيَدَعَهَا خَمْسَةَ أَشْهُرٍ لَا تَرَى ذَلِكَ شَيْئًا حَتَّى يُوقِفَ. وَتَقُولُ: كَيْفَ قَالَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى: فَإِمْسَاكٌ بِمَعْرُوفٍ أَوْ تَسْرِيحٌ بِإِحْسَانٍ [الْبَقَرَةِ: 229] .
Qasim bin Muhammad (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated that when Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) heard mention of a man who swore an oath that he would not go to his wife, and then left her for five months, she did not consider this correct unless he was stopped and a decision was made. She used to say: "Allah the Exalted has said that either keep (her) in a good manner or release (her) in a good way."
