Hadith 119

حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ: أَخَّرَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الصَّلَاةَ. فَقَالَ لَهُ عُرْوَةُ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: "نَزَلَ جِبْرَئِيلُ فَأَمَّنِي فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ، ثُمَّ نَزَلَ فَأَمَّنِي فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ، ثُمَّ نَزَلَ فَأَمَّنِي فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ، ثُمَّ نَزَلَ فَأَمَّنِي فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ، ثُمَّ نَزَلَ فَأَمَّنِي فَصَلَّيْتُ مَعَهُ، حَتَّى عَدَّ الصَّلَوَاتِ الْخَمْسَ" . فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ: اتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَا عُرْوَةُ، وَانْظُرْ مَا تَقُولُ. فَقَالَ لَهُ عُرْوَةُ: أَخْبَرَنِيهِ بَشِيرُ بْنُ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ. أَخْرَجَ الْحَدِيثَيْنِ مِنْ كِتَابِ اسْتِقْبَالِ الْقِبْلَةِ.
It is narrated from Zuhri (may Allah have mercy on him) that Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) delayed the prayer, so Urwah (may Allah have mercy on him) said to him that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Jibreel came, led me in prayer, and I prayed with him... Then Jibreel came, led me in prayer, and I prayed with him. Then Jibreel came, led me in prayer, and I prayed with him. Then Jibreel came, led me in prayer, then Jibreel came, led me in prayer, and I prayed with him, until five prayers were counted." Until five prayers were counted. So Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him) said: "Urwah, fear Allah! What are you saying?" Urwah said to Umar bin Abdul Aziz (may Allah have mercy on him): "Bashir bin Abi Mas'ud informed me from his father, who narrated from his father, and he narrated from the Prophet (ﷺ)."
