أَخْبَرَنَا الشَّافِعِيُّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ، عَنْ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: أَمَّنِي جِبْرِيلُ عِنْدَ بَابِ الْبَيْتِ مَرَّتَيْنِ، فَصَلَّى الظُّهْرَ حِينَ كَانَ الْفَيْءُ مِثْلَ الشِّرَاكِ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ حِينَ كَانَ الْفَيْءُ بِقَدْرِ ظِلِّهِ، وَصَلَّى الْمَغْرِبَ حِينَ أَفْطَرَ الصَّائِمُ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ حِينَ غَابَ الشَّفَقُ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ حِينَ حَرُمَ الطَّعَامُ وَالشَّرَابُ عَلَى الصَّائِمِ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى الْمَرَّةَ الْأَخِيرَةَ الظُّهْرَ حِينَ كَانَ ظِلُّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدْرَ ظِلِّهِ قَدْرَ الْعَصْرِ بِالْأَمْسِ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ حِينَ كَانَ ظِلُّ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ مِثْلَيْهِ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى الْمَغْرِبَ بِقَدْرِ الْوَقْتِ الْأَوَّلِ لَمْ يُؤَخِّرْهَا، ثُمَّ صَلَّى الْعِشَاءَ الْآخِرَةَ، حِينَ ذَهَبَ ثُلُثُ اللَّيْلِ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى الصُّبْحَ حِينَ أَسْفَرَ، ثُمَّ الْتَفَتَ، فَقَالَ: يَا مُحَمَّدُ، هَذَا وَقْتُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ، وَالْوَقْتُ مَا بَيْنَ هَذَيْنِ الْوَقْتَيْنِ . قَالَ الشَّافِعِيُّ: وَبِهَذَا نَأْخُذُ، وَهَذِهِ الْمَوَاقِيتُ فِي الْحَضَرِ.
It is narrated from Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (ﷺ) said: Jibreel (peace be upon him) led me in prayer twice at the House of Allah. The first time, he led the Zuhr prayer when the shadow (of things) was equal to the strap of a sandal. Then he led the Asr prayer when the shadow of everything became equal to its length, and Maghrib when the fasting person breaks his fast (i.e., at sunset). Then he led the Isha prayer when the redness (in the sky) disappeared. Then he led the Fajr prayer when eating and drinking became forbidden for the fasting person (i.e., at the time of dawn).
Then, the second time, he led the Zuhr prayer when the shadow of everything became equal to its length, at the time when he had led the Asr prayer the previous day. Then he led the Asr prayer when the shadow of everything became twice its length. Then he led the Maghrib prayer at the same time as the first day. Then he led the Isha prayer when one third of the night had passed. Then he led the Fajr prayer when the earth had become well illuminated. Then Jibreel (peace be upon him) turned to me and said: O Muhammad (ﷺ)! This is the time of the Prophets before you, and the time for prayer is between these two times.
