Hadith 1067

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: "لَا تُعْمِرُوا وَلَا تُرْقِبُوا، فَمَنْ أَعْمَرَ شَيْئًا أَوْ أَرْقَبَهُ فَهُوَ سَبِيلُ الْمِيرَاثِ" .
It is narrated from Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Do not give gifts in the manner of 'Umra or Ruqba. Whoever gives something as 'Umra or Ruqba, it will be according to the way of inheritance."
