اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ انْتَشَرْتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ تَوَجَّهْتُ، وَبِكَ اعْتَصَمْتُ
O Allah, by You I spread, to You I turn, and by You I seek refuge
Hadith 1497
1497 - أنا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْجَوَالِيقِيُّ أنا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي حُصَيْنٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ، نا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ، نا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الْقُرَشِيُّ الْهُبَارِيُّ، نا الْمُحَارِبِيُّ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ مُسَاوِرٍ الْعِجْلِيِّ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: لَمْ يَرِدْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَفَرًا إِلَّا قَالَ حِينَ يَنْهَضُ مِنْ جُلُوسِهِ: «اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ انْتَشَرْتُ، وَإِلَيْكَ تَوَجَّهْتُ، وَبِكَ اعْتَصَمْتُ، أَنْتَ ثِقَتِي، وَأَنْتَ رَجَائِي، اللَّهُمَّ اكْفِنِي مَا هَمَّنِي، وَمَا لَمْ أَهْتَمَّ بِهِ، وَمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي، اللَّهُمَّ زَوِّدْنِي التَّقْوَى، وَاغْفِرْ لِي ذَنْبِي، وَوَجِّهْنِي لِلْخَيْرِ أَيْنَمَا تَوَجَّهْتُ» ، قَالَ ثُمَّ يَخْرُجُ "
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) intended to set out on a journey, before rising from his place, he would certainly recite these words: “O Allah! I rise with Your help, turn towards You, and hold firmly to You. Upon You is my trust and in You is my hope. O Allah! Be sufficient for me in my important and unimportant matters, and also in those which You know better than I do. O Allah! Grant me the provision of piety, forgive my sins, and wherever I turn, direct me towards goodness.” The narrator says that then he (having recited these words) would set out for the journey.
