Hadiths 1401 to 1499
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ
O Allah, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that does not benefit
Hadith 1466
1466 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْغَازِي، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ الرُّعَيْنِيُّ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا أَبُو يَعْقُوبَ يُوسُفُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ، ثنا خَلَفُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ، عَنْ حَفْصٍ، هُوَ ابْنُ عَمْرٍو ابْنُ أَخِي أَنَسٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ مِنْ دُعَاءِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ، وَقَلْبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ، وَدُعَاءٍ لَا يُسْمَعُ، وَنَفْسٍ لَا تَشْبَعُ، أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ هَؤُلَاءِ الْأَرْبَعِ»
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that among the supplications of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was this: "O Allah! Indeed, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that is of no benefit, from a heart that does not fear, from a supplication that is not accepted, and from a soul that is never satisfied. I seek refuge in You from the evil of these four things."
Hadith 1467
1467 - وَأَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الصَّفَّارُ التُّجِيبِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ جَامِعٍ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ، ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، أنا خَلَفُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ، بِإِسْنَادِهِ مِثْلَهُ، وَقَالَ فِي آخِرِهِ: «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ هَؤُلَاءِ الْأَرْبَعِ»
This narration is also reported through another chain from Khulaf bin Khalifah with his chain, and at its end it is: "O Allah! Indeed, I seek refuge in You from the evil of these four things."
Hadith 1468
1468 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْكَاتِبُ، ثنا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ الْبَغَوِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو نَصْرٍ التَّمَّارُ، ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ: «اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عِلْمٍ لَا يَنْفَعُ، وَعَمَلٍ لَا يُرْفَعُ، وَقَلْبٍ لَا يَخْشَعُ، وَقَوْلٍ لَا يُسْمَعُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) that indeed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "O Allah! Indeed, I seek refuge in You from knowledge that is of no benefit, from deeds that do not ascend to Your presence, from a heart that does not fear (You), and from a supplication that is not heard."
