Hadiths 1401 to 1499
لَوْ نَظَرْتُمْ إِلَى الْأَجَلِ وَمَسِيرِهِ لَأَبْغَضْتُمُ الْأَمَلَ وَغُرُورَهُ "
If you looked at the end and its approach, you would hate hope and its deception
Hadith 1435
1435 - أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ، أبنا بَحْرُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الْقَرْقُوبِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ الطُّوسِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، ثنا أَبِي، ثنا نَوْفَلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْهُنَائِيُّ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: وَعَظَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: «لَوْ نَظَرْتُمْ إِلَى الْأَجَلِ وَمَسِيرِهِ لَأَبْغَضْتُمُ الْأَمَلَ وَغُرُورَهُ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) while advising us said: "If you were to see death and its swiftness, you would surely begin to hate hope and its deception."
Hadith 1436
1436 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْمُعَدِّلُ، أبنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ الْعَدَوِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ، ثنا بِشْرُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ، أبنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ، عَنْ خَارِجَةَ بْنِ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " لَوْ رَأَيْتُمُ الْأَجَلَ وَمَسِيرِهِ لَأَبْغَضْتُمُ الْأَمَلَ وَغُرُورَهُ، وَمَا مِنْ أَهْلِ بَيْتٍ إِلَّا وَمَلَكُ الْمَوْتِ يَتَعَاهَدُهُمْ فِي كُلِّ يَوْمٍ مَرَّةً، فَمَنْ وَجَدَهُ قَدِ انْقَضَى أَجَلُهُ قَبَضَ رُوحَهُ، فَإِذَا بَكَى أَهْلُهُ وَجَزَعُوا قَالَ: لِمَ تَبْكُونَ وَلِمَ تَجْزَعُونَ؟ فَوَاللَّهِ مَا نَقَصْتُ لَكُمْ عُمْرًا وَلَا حَبَسْتُ لَكُمْ رِزْقًا، وَمَالِي مِنْ ذَنْبٍ، وَلِي إِلَيْكُمْ عَوْدَةٌ ثُمَّ عَوْدَةٌ "
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "If you were to see death and its swiftness, you would surely begin to hate hope and its deception. There is no household whose Angel of Death does not check on them once every day. Then, when the appointed time of someone is complete, he seizes his soul, and the family members begin to weep and wail. So he (the Angel of Death) says: Why are you weeping and wailing? By Allah! I have neither decreased his lifespan for you nor withheld his sustenance; what is my sin? I am to return to you again and again."
