رُبَّ قَائِمٍ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْ قِيَامِهِ إِلَّا السَّهَرُ
Perhaps someone who stands (in prayer) gains nothing from his standing except sleeplessness

Hadith 1424
1424 - أَخْبَرَنَا قَاضِي الْقُضَاةِ أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ السَّعْدِيُّ وَأَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ قَالَا: ثنا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُفَسِّرِ، أبنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْقَاضِي الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ، ثنا بَقِيَّةُ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَى الْأَطْرَابُلْسِيُّ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «رُبَّ قَائِمٍ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْ قِيَامِهِ إِلَّا السَّهَرُ، وَرُبَّ صَائِمٍ لَيْسَ لَهُ مِنْ صِيَامِهِ إِلَّا الْجُوعُ وَالْعَطَشُ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How many are those who stand (in prayer) and gain nothing from their standing except staying awake at night, and how many are those who fast and gain nothing from their fasting except hunger and thirst."
Hadith 1425
1425 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ التُّجِيبِيُّ، أبنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَعْرُوفُ بِابْنِ أَبِي الْعَوَّامِ، ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ الْكَلَاعِيُّ، قَالَ: ثنا زَيْنُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «رُبَّ قَائِمٍ حَظُّهُ مِنْ قِيَامِهِ السَّهَرُ، وَرُبَّ صَائِمٍ حَظُّهُ مِنْ صِيَامِهِ الْجُوعُ وَالْعَطَشُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, that indeed the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "How many are those who stand (in prayer) and receive nothing from their standing except staying awake at night, and how many are those who fast and receive nothing from their fasting except hunger and thirst."
Hadith 1426
1426 - وأنا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، نا أَبُو حَفْصٍ عُمَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ شَاهِينَ، نا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ بِسْطَامٍ، بِالْأَبْلَةِ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زُنْبُورٍ الْمَكِّيُّ، نا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو، عَنِ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «رُبَّ صَائِمٍ لَيْسَ حَظُّهُ مِنْ صِيَامِهِ إِلَّا الْجُوعُ وَالْعَطَشُ، وَرُبَّ قَائِمٍ لَيْسَ حَظُّهُ مِنْ قِيَامِهِ إِلَّا السَّهَرُ»
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "How many fasting people are there who get nothing from their fast except hunger and thirst, and how many people who stand (in prayer at night) get nothing from their standing except staying awake at night."
