Hadith 1334
1334 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ النَّحَّاسُ، أبنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، ثنا عَبَّاسٌ الدُّورِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ لِأَبِي مَسْعُودٍ أَوْ قَالَ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ لِأَبِي عَبْدِ اللَّهِ: كَيْفَ سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ فِي زَعَمُوا؟ قَالَ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: «بِئْسَ مَطِيَّةُ الرَّجُلِ زَعَمُوا»
Abu Qilabah says that Sayyiduna Abu Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) asked Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him), or Abu Mas’ud asked Abu Abdullah, “What have you heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say about «زعموا»?” He said: I heard him (peace and blessings be upon him) say about it: “They claim that it is a very bad mount for a man.”
Hadith 1335
1335 - وَأَخْبَرَنَاهُ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْفَقِيهُ الشَّافِعِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ هِشَامُ بْنُ أَبِي خَلِيفَةَ الرُّعَيْنِيُّ، أبنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الطَّحَاوِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ أَبُو بَكْرٍ، ثنا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنِ الْأَوْزَاعِيِّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «بِئْسَ مَطِيَّةُ الرَّجُلِ زَعَمُوا» قَالَ الْقَاضِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَامَةَ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْقُضَاعِيُّ: أَظُنُّ أَبَا عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْمَذْكُورَ فِي هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ حُذَيْفَةَ بْنَ الْيَمَانِ، لِأَنَّهُ كَانَ مَعَ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ بِالْكُوفَةِ، وَكَانُوا يَتَجَالَسُونَ، وَيَسْأَلُ بَعْضُهُمْ بَعْضًا، وَكُنْيَةُ حُذَيْفَةَ أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ
Abu Qilabah says that Abu Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to me that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Zam'u is a very bad mount for a man." Qadi Abu Abdullah Muhammad bin Salamah bin Ja'far Quda'i said: In my opinion, the Abu Abdullah mentioned in this hadith refers to Hudhayfah bin Yaman (may Allah be pleased with him), because he used to stay in Kufa with Abu Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), they would sit together and ask each other questions. And Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) had the kunyah Abu Abdullah.
Hadith 1336
1336 - أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدِ بْنِ سَخْتَوَيْهِ، بِمَكَّةَ، أنا زَاهِرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ، نا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمَرْوَزِيُّ، أنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ، نا الْأَوْزَاعِيُّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: قِيلَ لَهُ: مَا سَمِعْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ فِي زَعَمُوا؟ قَالَ: «بِئْسَ مَطِيَّةُ الرَّجُلِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he was asked: What did you hear the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say about “za‘amū”? He said: “It is a very bad mount for a man.”
