أَصْدَقُ الْحَدِيثِ كِتَابُ اللَّهِ
The truest speech is the Book of Allah
Hadith 1323
1323 - أَخْبَرَنَا الْقَاضِي عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ بْنُ الْمُنْتَصِرِ، أبنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْبُخَارِيُّ، بِإِسْنَادِ الْخُطْبَةِ الَّتِي يَرْوِيهَا زَيْدُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيُّ الْمُقَدَّمُ، ذَكَرَهَا وَذَكَرَ الْخُطْبَةَ وَفِيهَا: «أَصْدَقُ الْحَدِيثِ كِتَابُ اللَّهِ، وَأَوْثَقُ الْعُرَى كَلِمَةُ التَّقْوَى، وَأَحْسَنُ الْهُدَى هُدَى الْأَنْبِيَاءِ، وَأَشْرَفُ الْمَوْتِ قَتْلُ الشُّهَدَاءِ»
Ismail bin Hasan Bukhari narrated with the chain of the sermon, which is reported by Zaid bin Khalid al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, whose mention has passed earlier. He mentioned that sermon, and in it was also: "The truest word is the Book of Allah, the strongest handhold is the word of Taqwa, the best way is the way of the Prophets, and the most honorable and noble death is the death of a martyr."
Hadith 1324
1324 - أنا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ الْمَعَافِرِيُّ، نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ فَهْدٍ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُطَرِّفٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ، جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ نَصْرٍ الْوَرَّاقُ الْمَعْرُوفُ بِابْنِ بِنْتِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شُعَيْبٍ الْمُحَدِّثُ، نا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ، عَلِيُّ بْنُ سَهْلِ بْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ الْبَزَّازُ، نا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ، مِنْ وَلَدِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ الزُّهْرِيِّ، حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عِمْرَانَ، نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ مَنْظُورٍ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي قَالَ، سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ، يَقُولُ: خَرَجْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، وَذَكَرَهُ مُخْتَصَرًا
Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir al-Juhani, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates that we went out with the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him. . . . . . . And he mentioned it briefly.
Hadith 1325
1325 - أنا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ، حَمْزَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَطْرَابُلْسِيُّ، أنا الْقَاضِي أَبُو بَكْرٍ، يُوسُفُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ الْمَيَانَجِيُّ، نا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ صَالِحِ بْنِ ذَرِيحٍ، نا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، نا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ، عَنْ إِدْرِيسَ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْأَوْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُنَا فَيَقُولُ: «إِنَّمَا هُمَا اثْنَانِ الْهَدْي وَالْكَلَامُ، فَأَصْدَقُ الْحَدِيثِ كِتَابُ اللَّهِ، وَأَحْسَنُ الْهَدْي هَدْي مُحَمَّدٍ، وَشَرُّ الْأُمُورِ مُحْدَثَاتُهَا، وَكُلُّ بِدْعَةٍ ضَلَالَةٌ، لَا يَتَطَاوَلُ عَلَيْكُمُ الْأَمَدُ، وَلَا يُلْهِيَنَّكُمُ الْأَمَلُ، فَكُلُّ مَا هُوَ آتٍ قَرِيبٌ، الشَّقِيُّ مَنْ شَقِيَ فِي بَطْنِ أُمِّهِ، وَالسَّعِيدُ مَنْ وُعِظَ بِغَيْرِهِ، أَلَا وَإِنَّ قِتَالَ الْمُؤْمِنِ كُفْرٌ، وَسِبَابُهُ فُسُوقٌ، وَلَا يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ مُسْلِمًا فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ، وَشَرُّ الرَّوَايَا رَوَايَا الْكَذِبِ، لَا يَصْلُحُ مِنَ الْكَذِبِ جَدٌّ وَلَا هَزْلٌ، وَلَا يُعِدُ الرَّجُلُ ابْنَهُ، ثُمَّ لَا يُنْجِزُ لَهُ، إِنَّ الصِّدْقَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْبِرِّ، وَإِنَّ الْبِرَّ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْجَنَّةِ، وَإِنَّ الْكَذِبَ يَهْدِي إِلَى الْفُجُورِ، وَإِنَّ الْفُجُورَ يَهْدِي إِلَى النَّارِ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say while delivering the sermon: “There are two fundamental things: the way and the speech. So the truest statement is the Book of Allah, and the best way is the way of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). The worst matters are the newly invented things (in religion), and every innovation is misguidance. Do not desire a long life among you, nor let hope make you heedless. Everything that is coming is near. Wretched is the one who is declared wretched in his mother’s womb, and fortunate is the one who takes a lesson from others (bad outcomes). Beware! Indeed, fighting a believer is disbelief, and abusing him is wickedness. It is not lawful for any Muslim to sever relations with another Muslim for more than three days. The worst narrations are false narrations. It is not permissible to lie, neither seriously nor in jest. And a man should not make a promise to his son that he cannot fulfill (later). Indeed, truth leads to righteousness, and righteousness leads to Paradise, and indeed, falsehood leads to sin, and sin leads to Hell.”
