أَفْضَلُ الصَّدَقَةِ اللِّسَانُ
The best charity is the tongue
Hadith 1279
1279 - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ التُّجِيبِيُّ، أبنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ جَامِعٍ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي نُعَيْمٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الْهُذَلِيِّ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ سَمُرَةَ بْنِ جُنْدُبٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «أَفْضَلُ الصَّدَقَةِ اللِّسَانُ» ، قِيلَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا صَدَقَةُ اللِّسَانِ؟ قَالَ: «الشَّفَاعَةُ تَفُكُّ بِهَا الْأَسِيرَ، وَتَحْقِنُ بِهَا الدِّمَاءَ، وَتَجُرُّ بِهَا الْمَعْرُوفَ وَالْإِحْسَانَ إِلَى أَخِيكَ، وَتَدْفَعُ عَنْهُ الْكَرِيهَةَ»
Sayyiduna Samurah bin Jundub (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The best charity is that of the tongue.” It was asked: O Messenger of Allah! What is the charity of the tongue? He said: “Interceding through which you free a captive, save someone from being killed, do good and show kindness to your brother, and remove a calamity from him.”
