عَمَلٌ قَلِيلٌ فِي سُنَّةٍ خَيْرٌ مِنْ عَمَلٍ كَثِيرٍ فِي بِدْعَةٍ
A small deed in accordance with the Sunnah is better than a large deed in innovation
Hadith 1270
1270 - أَخْبَرَنَا هِبَةُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ، أبنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ بُنْدَارٍ، أبنا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مَوْدُودٍ، ثنا أَبُو الْأَشْعَثِ، ثنا حَزْمُ بْنُ أَبِي حَزْمٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْحَسَنَ، يَقُولُ: بَلَغَنَا أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «عَمَلٌ قَلِيلٌ فِي سُنَّةٍ خَيْرٌ مِنْ عَمَلٍ كَثِيرٍ فِي بِدْعَةٍ»
Hasan al-Basri says that it has reached us that indeed the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A small deed according to the Sunnah is better than a lot of deeds according to innovation."
