خَيْرُ الذِّكْرِ الْخَفِيُّ، وَخَيْرُ الرِّزْقِ مَا يَكْفِي
The best remembrance is hidden, and the best provision is what suffices
Hadith 1218
1218 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْمُعَدِّلُ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، ثنا أَبُو سَعْدٍ الْحَارِثِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الْقَطَّانُ، ثنا أُسَامَةُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «خَيْرُ الذِّكْرِ الْخَفِيُّ، وَخَيْرُ الرِّزْقِ مَا يَكْفِي»
Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: “The best remembrance is the hidden remembrance, and the best provision is that which suffices.”
Hadith 1219
1219 - ونا الدَّقِيقِيُّ، نا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، نا أُسَامَةُ، عَنِ ابْنِ لَبِيبَةَ، وَقَالَ يَزِيدُ: عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ
This narration is also reported through another chain from Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman.
Hadith 1220
1220 - وأنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْخَيَّاشُ، نا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، نا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ، نا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ لَبِيبَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ لِأَبِيهِ: أَنْتَ مِنْ أَهْلِ بَدْرٍ، وَأَنْتَ مِمَّنِ اخْتَارَ عُمَرُ فِي الشُّورَى، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «خَيْرُ الرِّزْقِ مَا يَكْفِي وَخَيْرُ الذِّكْرِ الْخَفِيُّ»
Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman bin Labeebah says that Umar bin Sa’d said to his father: You are among the people of Badr and among those whom Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) chose for the Shura. Then he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "The best provision is that which suffices, and the best remembrance is the hidden remembrance."
