Mutarrif bin Abdullah narrates from his father, who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and I heard him reciting: ﴿أَلْهَاكُمُالتَّكَاثُرُ﴾ (At-Takathur: 1) "The mutual rivalry for piling up (worldly things) diverts you." (Then) the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The son of Adam says: My wealth, my wealth, whereas from your wealth only that is yours which you have consumed and finished, or worn and worn out, or given in charity and sent ahead."
