إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَجَاوَزَ لِأُمَّتِي مَا حَدَّثَتْ بِهِ أَنْفُسَهَا
Allah has overlooked for my nation what their souls whisper to them
Hadith 1114
1114 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْبَزَّازُ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ جَامِعٍ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، ثنا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَجَاوَزَ لِأُمَّتِي عَمَّا حَدَّثَتْ بِهِ نَفْسَهَا مَا لَمْ تَكَلَّمْ بِهِ أَوْ تَعْمَلْ بِهِ»
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "Indeed, Allah has pardoned my Ummah for whatever thoughts arise in their hearts, as long as they do not speak about them or act upon them."
Hadith 1115
1115 - وأنا أَبُو الْقَاسِمِ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْأُدْفُوِيُّ، أنا أَبُو الطَّيِّبِ، أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ، نا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ الطَّبَرِيُّ، أنا ابْنُ سَيَّارٍ، نا سَالِمُ بْنُ نُوحٍ، نا يُونُسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَجَاوَزَ لِأُمَّتِي عَمَّا حَدَّثَتْ بِهِ أَنْفُسَهَا مَا لَمْ تَنْطِقْ بِهِ أَوْ تَعْمَلْ بِهِ» رَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ، نَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ وَقُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْغُبَرِيُّ وَاللَّفْظُ لِسَعِيدٍ، نَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ عَلَيْهِ السَّلّامُ قَالَ: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَجَاوَزَ لِأُمَّتِي عَمَّا حَدَّثَتْ بِهِ أَنْفُسَهَا مَا لَمْ يَتَكَلَّمُوا أَوْ يَعْمَلُوا بِهِ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that indeed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Verily, Allah has pardoned my Ummah for all those things that arise in their hearts as long as they do not speak about them or act upon them.” Muslim has also narrated it with his chain from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, Allah has pardoned my Ummah for all those things that arise in their hearts as long as they do not speak about them or act upon them.”
