Warrad says that Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu’bah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter to Sayyiduna Mu’awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him). He was dictating to me and I was writing with my own hand that indeed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Verily, Allah forbids you from idle talk, wasting wealth, and asking too many questions.”

Sha'bi says that the scribe of Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated to me, he said that Sayyiduna Mu'awiyah (may Allah be pleased with him) wrote a letter to Sayyiduna Mughirah bin Shu'bah (may Allah be pleased with him) asking him to write and send a hadith which he had heard from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). So he wrote to him: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Indeed, Allah has disliked three things for you: idle talk, wasting wealth, and asking too many questions."
