إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْأَبْرَارَ الْأَخْفِيَاءَ الْأَتْقِيَاءَ
Allah loves the righteous, hidden, and pious
Hadith 1071
1071 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ التُّجِيبِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْفَارِقِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ الْكُوفِيُّ الْعَبْسِيُّ، قَالَ: ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ، ثنا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ، ثنا رَافِعُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، ثنا عَيَّاشُ بْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، عَنْ عِيسَى بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، خَرَجَ إِلَى مَسْجِدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَإِذَا هُوَ بِمُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ يَبْكِي عِنْدَ قَبْرِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ، فَقَالَ: مَا يُبْكِيكَ يَا مُعَاذُ؟ قَالَ: أَبْكَانِي شَيْءٌ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ صَاحِبِ هَذَا الْقَبْرِ، سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُحِبُّ الْأَبْرَارَ الْأَخْفِيَاءَ الْأَتْقِيَاءَ، الَّذِينَ إِذَا غَابُوا لَمْ يُفْتَقَدُوا، وَإِذَا حَضَرُوا لَمْ يُعْرَفُوا، وَلَمْ يُدْعَوْا، قُلُوبُهُمْ مَصَابِيحُ الْهُدَى، يَخْرُجُونَ مِنْ كُلِّ غَبْرَاءَ مُظْلِمَةٍ»
Zaid bin Aslam narrates from his father that Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) (one day) went towards the Prophet’s Mosque and saw that Sayyiduna Mu’adh bin Jabal (may Allah be pleased with him) was crying at the grave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He said: “Mu’adh! Why are you crying?” He replied: “What makes me cry is what I heard from the one in this grave. I heard him say: ‘Indeed, Allah loves the righteous, unknown, pious people who, when absent from gatherings, are not sought after, and when present, are not recognized or called upon (even though) their hearts are lamps of guidance; they emerge safely from every dusty, dark trial.’”
