Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, the religion began as something strange, and soon it will return to being strange just as it began, so glad tidings to the strangers."

Kathir bin Abdullah Muzani narrates from his father, who narrates from his grandfather, that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, the religion began as something strange, and soon it will return to being strange just as it began, so glad tidings are for the strangers." It was asked: O Messenger of Allah! Who are the strangers? He said: "Those who revive my Sunnah and teach it to the servants of Allah."

1054 - أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ النَّيْسَابُورِيُّ، أنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْهَاشِمِيُّ، نا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، نا ابْنُ قُدَامَةَ، نا جَرِيرٌ، وَلَيْثٌ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «بَدَأَ الْإِسْلَامُ غَرِيبًا، وَسَيَعُودُ غَرِيبًا كَمَا بَدَأَ، فَطُوبَى لِلْغُرَبَاءِ»
