Hadith 1018
1018 - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الصَّفَّارُ، أبنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ جَامِعٍ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ الْمَوْصِلِيُّ، ثنا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ يَحْيَى الصَّدَفِيِّ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ لِكُلِّ دِينٍ خُلُقًا، وَإِنَّ خُلُقَ هَذَا الدِّينِ الْحَيَاءُ»
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Indeed, every religion has a characteristic, and indeed the characteristic of this religion is modesty.”
Hadith 1019
1019 - أنا أَبُو مَطَرٍ، عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، أنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ خَرُوفٍ، نا بَكْرُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ، نا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، نا مَالِكٌ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ صَفْوَانَ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ رُكَانَةَ، يَرْفَعُهُ وَفِيهِ «لِكُلِّ دِينٍ خُلُقٌ، وَخُلُقُ الْإِسْلَامِ الْحَيَاءُ»
Yazid bin Talha bin Rukanah narrates this as a marfu’ (elevated) tradition, and in it is: “Indeed, every religion has a characteristic, and the characteristic of Islam is modesty.”
