Hadith 1015
1015 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ، صَالِحُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ رِشْدِينَ إِجَازَةً، أبنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الصَّفَّارُ، ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ مَرْزُوقٍ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ صَالِحٍ، ثنا أَبُو مَهْدِيٍّ، عَنْ أَبِي الزَّاهِرِيَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، قَالَ: سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ أَيُّ الْعَمَلِ أَفْضَلُ؟ فَقَالَ: «الْعِلْمُ» ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ، أَسْأَلُكَ عَنِ الْعَمَلِ فَتُخْبِرُنِي بِالْعِلْمِ؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ قَلِيلَ الْعَمَلِ مَعَ الْعِلْمِ كَثِيرٌ، وَكَثِيرُ الْعَمَلِ مَعَ الْجَهْلِ قَلِيلٌ»
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that a man asked the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Which deed is the best? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) replied: "Knowledge." He said: O Messenger of Allah! I am asking you about action, while you are telling me about knowledge? The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, a little action with much knowledge is plentiful, and much action with ignorance is little."
Hadith 1016
1016 - أنا بِهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْعَسْقَلَانِيُّ إِجَازَةً، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، نا أَبُو قِرْصَافَةَ، نا آدَمُ بْنُ أَبِي إِيَاسٍ، نا بَقِيَّةُ، نا حُدَيْرٌ، مَوْلَى السِّمْطِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ، نا أَبُو الزَّاهِرِيَّةِ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا، قَالَ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: أَخْبَرَنِي بِأَفْضَلِ الْعَمَلِ، قَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «عَلَيْكَ بِالْعِلْمِ» فَقَالَ: إِنَّمَا أَسْأَلُكَ عَنْ أَفْضَلِ الْعَمَلِ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: «عَلَيْكَ بِالْعِلْمِ، فَإِنَّ قَلِيلَ الْعَمَلِ مَعَ الْعِلْمِ كَثِيرٌ، وَإِنَّ كَثِيرَ الْعَمَلِ مَعَ الْجَهْلِ قَلِيلٌ» وَأَخْبَرَنِي بِهِ أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ قِرَاءَةً عَلَيْهِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ دَاوُدَ
It is narrated from Abu Zahriyah that a man asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him: "Tell me the most virtuous deed." The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: "Adhere to knowledge." Upon this, he said: "I have asked you about the most virtuous deed?" The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: "Adhere to knowledge, for even a little action with much knowledge is abundant, and much action with ignorance is little." This narration is also reported through another chain.
