Hadith 944
944 - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ التُّجِيبِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ جَامِعٍ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ التَّيْمِيِّ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ: كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ: «لَا تَجْعَلُونِي كَقَدَحِ الرَّاكِبِ» ، قَالُوا: وَمَا قَدَحُ الرَّاكِبِ؟ قَالَ: " إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لِيَرْفَعُ مَتَاعَهُ عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ، فَيَبْقَى فِي قِدَحِهِ مَاءٌ، فَيُعِيدُهُ فِي إِدْاوَتِهِ، قَالَ: «اجْعَلُونِي فِي أَوَّلِ الْحَدِيثِ وَأَوْسَطِهِ وَآخِرِهِ»
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say: "Do not make me like the cup of a rider (traveler)." The companions asked: What is the cup of a rider? He said: "Indeed, a traveler carries his belongings on his mount, and if water remains in his cup, he pours it back into his water-skin." He said: "Place me at the beginning, the middle, and the end (in all three places) of your speech."
