Whoever's heart is filled with love of the world, Allah will afflict his heart with it

Hadith 541
541 - أنا هِبَةُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْخَوْلَانِيُّ، أنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ طَالِبٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، نا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ فَرَضَخٍ الْإِخْمِيمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنِي جَبْرُونُ بْنُ عِيسَى الْبَلَوِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، نا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ أَبِي ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ السُّلَمِيِّ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: " مَنْ أَشْرَبَ حُبَّ الدُّنْيَا الْتَاطَ مِنْهَا بِثَلَاثٍ: شَقَاءٍ لَا يَنْفَدُ عَنَاؤُهُ، وَحِرْصٍ لَا يَبْلُغُ غِنَاهُ، وَأَمَلٍ لَا يَبْلُغُ مُنْتَهَاهُ "
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever instills the love of the world in his heart will certainly be afflicted with three things: such toil whose fatigue will never end, such greed that will never lead to wealth, and such hope that will never reach its objective."
