مَنْ سَاءَتْهُ خَطِيئَتُهُ غُفِرَ لَهُ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَغْفِرْ
Whoever is saddened by his sin will be forgiven, even if he does not seek forgiveness

Hadith 428
428 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْمُعَدِّلُ، أبنا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ، ثنا هَمَّامُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ خُلَيْدِ بْنِ دَعْلَجٍ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «مَنْ سَاءَتْهُ خَطِيئَتُهُ غُفِرَ لَهُ وَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَغْفِرْ»
Hasan (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever is grieved by his mistake is forgiven, even if he does not seek forgiveness."
