Hadith 328
328 - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الصَّفَّارُ، أبنا ابْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الرَّمَادِيُّ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَكِيمٍ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «الْمُسْتَبَّانِ مَا قَالَا، فَهُوَ عَلَى الْبَادِئِ حَتَّى يَعْتَدِيَ الْمَظْلُومُ»
Hasan al-Basri (may Allah have mercy on him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Whatever two people who abuse each other say, (its burden) will be upon the one who started it, as long as the oppressed does not exceed the limits.”
Hadith 329
329 - أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ التُّجِيبِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْمَدَنِيُّ، ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، ثنا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ، ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ وَعَمْرُو بْنُ الْحَارِثِ وَاللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ، عَنْ سِنَانِ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ الْكِنْدِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «الْمُسْتَبَّانِ مَا قَالَا، فَعَلَى الْبَادِئِ حَتَّى يَعْتَدِيَ الْمَظْلُومُ» وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَيُّوبَ وَقُتَيْبَةَ، وَابْنِ حَجَرٍ قَالُوا: ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، يَعْنُونَ: ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «الْمُسْتَبَّانِ مَا قَالَا، فَعَلَى الْبَادِئُ مَا لَمْ يَعْتَدِ الْمَظْلُومُ»
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that indeed he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whatever two people who abuse each other say, (the burden of it) will be upon the one who started it, as long as the oppressed does not exceed the limits." And Muslim bin Hajjaj has also narrated it with his chain from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), who narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whatever two people who abuse each other say, (the burden of it) will be upon the one who started it, as long as the oppressed does not exceed the limits."
