Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: "Three things are destructive and three things are salvatory. The three destructive things are: miserliness which is obeyed, desires of the self which are followed, and a person being pleased with his own praise. And the three salvatory things are: fearing Allah in secret and in public, moderation in wealth and poverty, and acting justly in a state of happiness and anger."
