لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عِمَادٌ وَعِمَادُ هَذَا الدِّينِ الْفِقْهُ
Everything has a pillar, and the pillar of this religion is understanding (fiqh)
Hadith 206
206 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو ذَرٍّ عَبْدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْهَرَوِيُّ، إِجَازَةً، ثنا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ السِّيُوطِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ غَالِبٍ، ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أبنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، عَنْ صَفْوَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «مَا عُبِدَ اللَّهُ بِشَيْءٍ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ فِقْهٍ فِي دِينٍ، وَلَفَقِيهٌ أَشَدُّ عَلَى الشَّيْطَانِ مِنْ أَلْفِ عَابِدٍ، وَلِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ عِمَادٌ وَعِمَادُ هَذَا الدِّينِ الْفِقْهُ» فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: لَأَنْ أَجْلِسَ سَاعَةً فَأَفْقَهَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ أُحْيِي اللَّيْلَةَ إِلَى الْغَدَاةِ
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: “No act of worship to Allah has been performed that is superior to understanding (fiqh) in religion, and indeed, one jurist (faqih) is heavier against Satan than a thousand worshippers. And everything has a pillar, and the pillar of this religion is fiqh.” Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) says: “If I sit for an hour to acquire fiqh, it is more beloved to me than spending the night in worship from night until morning.”
Hadith 207
207 - وَأَخْبَرَنَا ذُو النُّونِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْإِخْمِيمِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الْفَضْلِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْهَرَوِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ، بِسَمَرْقَنْدَ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ جَوْتِي، أبنا أَبُو عَمْرٍو الْأُمَوِيُّ، ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ أَعْيَنَ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ الْحَرَّانِيُّ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حَرْمَلَةَ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ: «لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ قِوَامٌ، وَقِوَامُ الدِّينِ الْفِقْهُ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Huraira, may Allah be pleased with him, that indeed the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Everything has a pillar, and the pillar of this religion is jurisprudence (fiqh)."
