الْغِنَى الْيَأْسُ مِمَّا فِي أَيْدِي النَّاسِ
Wealth is to despair of what is in people’s hands
Hadith 199
199 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْبَزَّازُ الصَّفَّارُ، قَالَ: أبنا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادِ بْنِ بِشْرٍ، ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ الْجُعْفِيُّ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ الْعِجْلِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ، عَنْ زِرٍّ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «الْغِنَى الْيَأْسُ مِمَّا فِي أَيْدِي النَّاسِ، وَمَنْ مَشَى مِنْكُمْ إِلَى طَمَعٍ فَلْيَمْشِ رُوَيْدًا»
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: “(A servant’s) richness is that he loses hope in what is in the hands of people, and whoever among you moves towards any greed, he should proceed slowly.”
