النَّاسُ مَعَادِنٌ كَمَعَادِنِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ
People are like mines of gold and silver
Hadith 196
196 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُنِيرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْحَسَنِ، ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بُهْزَاذَ السَّيْرَافِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو الْجَعْدِ، ثنا أَبُو هِشَامٍ الرِّفَاعِيُّ، ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَمَانٍ، ثنا هِشَامٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «النَّاسُ مَعَادِنٌ كَمَعَادِنِ الذَّهَبِ وَالْفِضَّةِ، خِيَارُهُمْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ كَخِيَارِهِمْ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ إِذَا فَقِهُوا»
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "People are like mines of gold and silver (of different kinds); the best of them in the pre-Islamic period are the best of them in Islam, provided they gain understanding of the religion."
