آفَةُ الْحَدِيثِ الْكَذِبُ، وَآفَةُ الْعِلْمِ النِّسْيَانُ، وَآفَةُ الْحِلْمِ السَّفَهُ، وَآفَةُ الْعِبَادَةِ الْفَتْرَةُ، وَآفَةُ الظُّرْفِ الصَّلَفُ، وَآفَةُ الشَّجَاعَةِ الْبَغْيُ، وَآفَةُ السَّمَاحَةِ الْمَنُّ، وَآفَةُ الْجَمَالِ الْخُيَلَاءُ، وَآفَةُ الْحَسَبِ الْفَخْرُ
The flaw of speech is lying, the flaw of knowledge is forgetfulness, the flaw of forbearance is foolishness, the flaw of worship is laziness, the flaw of refinement is arrogance, the flaw of courage is oppression, the flaw of generosity is reminding, the flaw of beauty is vanity, the flaw of status is pride

Hadith 74
74 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْقُهُسْتَانِيُّ، أبنا أَبُو الْحَسَنِ عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ الدِّمَّمِيُّ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُطَيَّنٌ ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، ثنا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الزَّيَّاتُ، ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَبُو رَجَاءٍ الْحَبَطِيُّ، مِنْ أَهْلِ تُسْتَرَ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ عَلِيًّا رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ وَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ فِي حَدِيثِ الْوَصِيَّةِ
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say this... and he also mentioned these matters in the "Hadith of Bequest"... and he narrated this hadith.
Hadith 75
75 - وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الْحَسَنُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ عُمَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ شَاهِينَ، ثنا أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ نَصْرٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ وَهْبٍ الْعَلَّافُ الْوَاسِطِيُّ، ثنا عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ، أبنا عَمْرِو بْنِ حَمَّادٍ النَّصِيبِيُّ أَبُو إِسْمَاعِيلَ، عَنِ السَّرِيِّ بْنِ خَالِدٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: دَعَانِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَذَكَرَ وَصِيَّتَهُ لِعَلِيٍّ وَزَادَ فِيهَا: «وَآفَةُ الظُّرْفِ الصَّلَفُ، وَآفَةُ الْجُودِ السَّرَفُ، وَآفَةُ الدِّينِ الْهَوَى»
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) called me and mentioned his will for Ali, and in this narration, there is an addition of these words: "Exaggeration is the ruin of wit, extravagance is the ruin of generosity, and desire of the self is the ruin of religion."
