Hadith 17
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عُمَرَ التُّجِيبِيُّ، ثنا أَبُو سَعِيدِ بْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ، ثنا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ هُوَ ابْنُ أَيُّوبَ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ سُهَيْلِ بْنِ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيِّ، عَنْ تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: «الدِّينُ النَّصِيحَةُ، الدِّينُ النَّصِيحَةُ» ، قَالُوا: لِمَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟، قَالَ: «لِلَّهِ وَلِكِتَابِهِ وَلِنَبِيِّهِ وَلِأَئِمَّةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَعَامَّتِهِمْ»
Sayyiduna Tamim Dari (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Religion is sincere advice, religion is sincere advice." The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: "O Messenger of Allah! For whom?" He replied: "For Allah, for His Book, for His Prophet, for the leaders and rulers of the Muslims, and for the common Muslims."
Hadith 18
أنا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عُمَرَ التُّجِيبِيُّ، أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ جَامِعٍ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ، ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ الطَّالْقَانِيُّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، قَالَ: كَانَ عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ حَدَّثَنَاهُ، عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: فَلَقِيتُ ابْنَهُ سُهَيْلًا فَقُلْتُ: سَمِعْتُ مِنْ أَبِيكَ حَدِيثًا حَدَّثَنَاهُ عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ، عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مِنَ الَّذِي حَدَّثَ أَبِي عَنْهُ، سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءَ بْنَ يَزِيدَ اللَّيْثِيَّ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «الدِّينُ النَّصِيحَةُ» ثَلَاثًا، قَالُوا: لِمَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟، قَالَ: «لِلَّهِ وَلِكِتَابِهِ وَلِنَبِيِّهِ وَلِأَئِمَّةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَعَامَّتِهِمْ» وَرَوَاهُ مُسْلِمٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبَّادٍ الْمَكِّيِّ، ثنا سُفْيَانُ قَالَ: قُلْتُ لِسُهَيْلٍ إِنَّ عَمْرًا حَدَّثَنَا عَنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ، عَنْ أَبِيكَ قَالَ: وَرَجَوْتُ أَنْ يُسْقِطَ عَنِّي رَجُلًا، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُهُ مِنَ الَّذِي سَمِعَهُ عَنْهُ أَبِي كَانَ صَدِيقًا لَهُ بِالشَّامِ، ثُمَّ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ، عَنْ تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَهُ
Imam Sufyan bin ‘Uyaynah (may Allah have mercy on him) says that ‘Amr bin Dinar narrated to him a hadith from the chain of Qa‘qa‘ bin Hakim from Abu Salih from ‘Ata bin Yazid. Imam Sufyan says: Then I met Suhail, the son of Abu Salih. I said to him: Did you hear from your father the hadith which ‘Amr bin Dinar narrated to us from the chain of Qa‘qa‘ bin Hakim from Abu Salih? He said: I heard that hadith from the one who narrated it to my father. I heard ‘Ata bin Yazid al-Laithi narrate this hadith from Tamim al-Dari (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said three times: “The religion is sincere advice.” The Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) asked: O Messenger of Allah! For whom? He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “For Allah, for His Book, for His Prophet, for the leaders and rulers of the Muslims, and for the general Muslims.” This hadith has also been narrated by Imam Muslim from Muhammad bin ‘Abbad al-Makki, who said: Sufyan narrated to us, he says: I said to Suhail: Indeed, ‘Amr narrated to us from Qa‘qa‘ from your father this hadith, so he said: I hope that (in my chain) there will be one less intermediary between me and the source. Then he said: I heard this hadith from the person from whom my father heard it; he had a friend in Syria (he narrated the whole incident). Then Imam Sufyan narrated this hadith to us from the chain of Suhail from ‘Ata bin Yazid from Tamim al-Dari, that indeed the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said this.
Hadith 19
19 - وَأَنَاهُ أَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ النَّحَّاسِ، ثنا ابْنُ الْأَعْرَابِيِّ، ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، هُوَ ابْنُ فَهْدٍ، ثنا أَبُو هَمَّامٍ الدَّلَّالُ، ثنا هِشَامُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ سَعْدٍ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «الدِّينُ النَّصِيحَةُ» . قِيلَ: لِمَنْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ؟، قَالَ: «لِلَّهِ وَلِرَسُولِهِ وَلِكِتَابِهِ وَلِأَئِمَّةِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ وَعَامَّتِهِمْ»
Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Religion is sincerity (well-wishing)." It was asked: "O Messenger of Allah! For whom?" He (peace be upon him) replied: "For Allah, for His Messenger, for His Book, for the leaders and rulers of the Muslims, and for the common Muslims."
