991 - أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ، مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ الْكَاتِبُ، ثنا الْبَغَوِيُّ، ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ، ثنا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي التَّيَّاحِ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مُطَرِّفًا، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ: «إِنَّ أَقَلَّ سَاكِنِي الْجَنَّةِ النِّسَاءَ»
Sayyiduna Imran bin Husain (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Indeed, among the inhabitants of Paradise, women are very few."

Brief Explanation
Explanation:
The meaning is that, in the beginning, the number of women in Paradise will be much less compared to men. The reason for this has also been stated: they frequently curse and are ungrateful to their husbands. “[بخاري : 304]

However, after receiving punishment for their sins and then entering Paradise, their number will exceed that of men, as it is mentioned in the hadith that each man in Paradise will have two wives. “[مسلم : 2834]

Ibn Kathir rahimahullah states: In the aforementioned hadith, the two wives refer to the daughters of Adam, while the houris will be in addition to them, as many as Allah wills. “[البدايه والنهايه : 476/17]
